Indian national held with 8.2kg silver

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ranjit Singh Rathour said 37-year-old Akhalesh Sah Sonar from Motihari, headquarters of East Champaran district in the Indian state of Bihar was held with the smuggled silver. Sonar was arrested while he was on his way to Hetauda from Birgunj with the contraband in a public bus. In Nepalgunj, an electric transformer explosion killed two persons at Mahimanpur in Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality-6, Banke district on Saturday.
The explosion critically injured three others. Banke police identified the deceased as local residents Suresh Chaudhary, 25, and Tikaram Chaudhary, 42.
The blast also injured Ila Shahi, Kamala Budathoki and Dinesh Budathoki as well as electrocuting four cattle.
Ward Chairman Janak Bahadur Tharu said most of the electrical appliances in houses of Laxmi Rajpur, Mahimanpur and Goriyanpur suffered power outage because of the incident.
In Rautahat, two girls, aged 9 and 10, drowned in the Bhakuwa stream at Rajpur Municipality-7 in Rautahat district on Friday.
Police said the bodies of Majada Khatun, 9, and Sabina Khatun, 10, were recovered from the stream. The District Area Police said that they drowned while swimming in the stream. Police handed the girls’ bodies to their parents after carrying out post mortem in the District Hospital.
