All seven people traveling in a jeep died in an accident at Tingla in Dudhkunda Municipality-11 of Solukhumbu district on Friday, police said. The death toll rose to seven after seven-year-old Sushma Khadka succumbed to her injuries.

Police Inspector at District Police Office, Salleri, Prabin Adhikari said Khadka, of Necha Salyan-2 died during the course of treatment at Phaplu Hospital.

According to a local eyewitness, the jeep (Ko 1 Ja 1860) en route to Pattale Hatbazar from Necha Salyan veered off the road and fell some 500 meters down from Mahadev cliff at around 7am today.

The deceased has been identified as driver Kusang Tamang, 21, of Sirise, Udaypur, Shiva Kumar Yadav, 36, of Sanhitha, Siraha, Kopila Basnet, 24, of Khalte, Khotang, Urmila Bastola, 35, and Sushila Khadka, 25 of Necha Salyan-2, Solukhumbu and the jeep owner Shyam Kumar Rai, 42, of Mamkha, Okhaldhunga.

The cause of the accident has not been ascertained. Police said it has been difficult to deduce the cause behind the accident as all the people died in the accident.
