The Rasuwa District Court has sentenced two gold smugglers up to three years in jail and a fine of Rs 81.4 million.
The court last week slapped Karsang Dawa Tamang of Aamachhodinmo Rural Municipality-5 with three years imprisonment on conviction of smuggling gold through Rasuwagadhi border point.
The court also ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 81.4 million. Likewise, another suspect Lakpa Tamang of Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-1 was sentenced to one year jail sentence.
Police had seized 17kg contraband gold from the duo in Rasuwa on November 18, 2017.
