Police have arrested one person in possession of a pistol from Manebhanjyang, Khandbari-3 in Sankhuwasabha district on Wednesday night.
A police team on patrol arrested Kedar Rai, 35, of Yafu, Silichong Rural Municipality-5 during a regular check along with an automatic pistol and two magazines loaded with 14 bullets.
DSP Shyam Kumar Sarumagar informed that Rai was heading towards Khandbari on a motorcycle (Ko 31 Pa 9544) when he behaved suspiciously with led the police to conduct a security check.
An Arms and Ammunition case has been registered against Rai.
Rai is the member of Naya Shakti party and was the party’s candidate for ward chairman from Silichong Rural Municipality-5.
