A child died and 31 others were injured when a bus they were travelling in overturned in Deukhuri of Dang along the East-West Highway on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as five-year-old Nirabi Mohammad of Uttar Pradesh, India.

The ill-fated bus (Na 5 Kha 1829) was heading towards Nepalgunj from Janakpur when the incident occurred at Paharuwa in Rapti Rural Municipality-5 today.

The injured are receiving treatment at Lamahi and Kohalpur.

Bus driver and assistant driver are on the run after the incident.

Police suspect that the incident might have occurred due to driver’s negligence.
