Cooperative officials flee with depositors' savings

The locals lodged a fraud case against the Chairman Dipak Raj Giri, Vice Chairman Rajan Shrestha, Manager Parwati Giri and Member Raj Tamang of the cooperative after Treasurer Surendra Lal Shrestha and Accountant Prakash Shrestha went out of contact along with Rs Rs 4,948,189.
‘We have lodged a fraud case and begun our investigation,” said DSP Bimal Raj Kandel adding that the fleeced amount from the cooperative with 800 depositors might be much higher than the amount recorded.
The locals filed the complaint after the cooperative’s officials went missing. The cooperative that was established in 2010 has been shut for the past one and a half month.
