At least 14 people died and nine others were injured when a bus they were travelling in met with an accident at Rambha Rural Municipality in Palpa district on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Bishnuman Bajracharya of Tansen-4, Devendra Lal Pradhan, Krishnaman Bajracharya, Chatraman Shakya, Basanti Khand, Kamala Karki of Tansen-3, Sushil Prasad Shrestha, Durga Bahadur Saru, Sachin Bajracharya, Gita Budhathoki, Krishna Bahadur Bohara of Tansen-6, Loknath Dhakal of Tansen-2, Durga Devi Shrestha of Tansen-5 and Muna Saru of Tansen-2.

The identity of a woman who lost her life in the accident is yet to be established.

Among the deceased, Kamala Karki and Sachin Bajracharya breathed their last while being rushed to the Lumbini Medical College and Mission Hospital respectively.

Prafulla Sharma, assistant bus driver Bimal Ranjan, Uttam Kumar Bajracharya, Om Malego, Mina Khamcha, Muna Sari, driver Arjun Thapa, Santam Bajracharya and Purna Maya Bajracharya are undergoing treatment at the Mission Hospital. Similarly, Prabin Bajracharya is receiving treatment at the Lumbini Medical Hospital.

The Mission Hospital has referred Muna Saru and Om Malego to the Lumbini Hospital and preparations are underway to take bus driver Arjun Thapa to Kathmandu, District Traffic Police Office Chief Prabin Acharya said.

The ill-fated bus (Lu 2 Kha 975) was heading towards Rampur from Tansen when the incident occurred at around 9 am today.

12 dead in Palpa bus accident

At least 12 people have been reported dead in a bus accident in Rambha Rural Municipality of Palpa district on Friday.

The ill-fated passenger bus (Lu 2 Kha 975), en route to Rampur from Tansen, met with an accident at Humin in Rambha Rural Municipality-4 at around 9am, killing 12 people, informed District Traffic Police Chief Prabin Acharya.

Thirteen others, onboard the bus, have sustained injuries. Of them, nine are receiving medical treatment at the Mission Hospital and four have been sent to Lumbini Medical College for treatment.
