Manthali floods sweep away girl, 19, as debris flows into homes and shops

Police said Ushma Phuyal, a resident of Manthali-1, was trying to cross the rain-swollen stream when she was carried away by the swift currents. She was on her way to Mugitar for her 11 grade finals. Police and locals searched for Ushma until late afternoon, but to no avail.
Meanwhile, a flash flood triggered by Sunday night’s rain dumped their debris inside people’s homes and shops in Manthali.Around two dozen vehicles parked at the town’s bus park were also caught in the flood debris.Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajendra Kumar Thapa said hundreds of security personnel were mobilised on a rescue mission soon after the flash floods entered the town.
In Myagdi district, a landslide triggered by heavy rianfall buried three houses at Tatopani on Sunday. Twelve other houses in the area were also partially affected. Police said though there was no human casualty, several families were in need of rescue and relief. Local Red Cross office said 22 households were hit by the landslide.
Landslide stalls traffic at Siddhartha Highway
PALPA: Vehicular movement was obstructed for nearly 14 hours after a landsldie near Dobhan Bazaar of Tansen-Butwal section of the Siddhartha Highway in Palpa district. Police said hundreds of people were stranded on the highway because of the landslide. The traffic finally resumed after security personnel cleared the debris in the afternoon.
