Properties worth thousands of rupees were destroyed in separate incidents of fire in Rautahat district on Sunday. A fire at Bhansar Road in Gaur Municipality-1 destroyed four roadside eateries. Police said the eateries belonging to Santalal Jaiswal, Rajendra Das, Sudha Devi and Aakash Mahato were destroyed. 

In Gadhimai Municipality, a jaggery plant caught fire the same day. The cause of the fires was not immediately known. With the onset of the dry season, incidents of fire are growing in the district. 

Local governments have launched awareness drives to prevent fire. They have appealed to the people to take precautionary measures while using electric appliances, burning incense, storing flammable goods in the house and smoking, etc.
