Police have seized 92 kg of marijuana, worth an estimated Rs 500,000, and arrested two Indian women for possession of the contraband drugs.
Sumitra Devi Sahani, 35, and Rinchi Devi, 25, were arrested with the cannabis by Hetauda Police at Rajaiya of Manahari Rural Municipality-9 in Makwanpur district.
According to SP Bikasraj Khanal, security personnel found 43 packages of marijuana hidden in different parts of a Bolero Jeep bearing Indian registration number (UP 21 AF 1854) during a security check. The cannabis packed in 2-3 kg bags were hidden by making false bottom in the jeep.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the police smelt a rat and began searching. Police said the marijuana was loaded in Rajaiya.
