Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali will lead the Nepali delegation to the Mid-term Ministerial Confe-rence of the Non-Aligned Move-ment (NAM) to be held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on April 5-6.
He will reach New Delhi from Baku to join PM KP Sharma Oli. Other delegates to Baku include Durga Prasad Bhattarai, permanent representative of Nepal to the United Nations in New York, and Counsellor Surendra Thapa, according to the Foreign Ministry.
The ministerial conference will be preceded by senior officials’ meeting on April 3-4. The conference will assess the progress since the last summit of NAM and prepare for the 2019 summit. The theme of the conference is “Promoting International Peace and Security for Sustainable Development”. Nepal is a founding member of NAM, whose principles form important elements of the country’s foreign policy. (PR)
