A proposal has been registered at Province 3 secretariat demanding that Kavre be made the provincial capital.

The proposal was proposed by UML lawmaker Chandra Bahadur Lama and lawmakers Basundhara Humagain, Ratna Prasad Dhakal and Laxman Lamsal have seconded it.

This is the first official proposal seeking to shift the capital of province 3 from Hetauda to Kavre.

According Article 288 (2) of the Constitution, a two-thirds majority of the members of Province Assembly can take the decision regarding shifting provincial capital.

Citing good geographical condition, physical infrastructure and people’s wish, the province assembly members of Kavre have proposed to make province capital in the area of Banepa, Panauti, Dhulikhel Municipality-based IT Park of Kavre.
