2-day South Asia conference begins

A two-day regional conference on ‘South Asia Amidst a New World Order’ kicked off in Kathmandu on Sunday. Chairman of Federal Socialist Party, Nepal Upendra Yadav inaugurated the conference jointly organized by the Central for South Asian Studies and Konrad Adenauer -Stiftung.
Speaking at the inaugural session, former deputy prime minister and minister for foreign affairs Yadav underlined the need of reviving Saarc activities to enhance regional cooperation and connectivity. He said South Asia has a crucial role to play in shaping new world order.
Speaking at the programme, Director of Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) Nepal Nishchalnath Pandey highlighted the need of regional cooperation and objectives of the conference. The two-day regional conference will deliberate on various issues related to regional South Asia and beyond. Experts and eminent persons from eight South Asian countries Nepal, India, Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Srilanka and Pakistan are attending the programme.
The experts are expected to discuss about the reasons behind the derailment of Saarc process. The organisers have said the track-two discussions would contribute to revival of the Saarc process.
