The notice was issued at the initiative of Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal police. The issuance of red corner notice means police of 192 members countries of Interpol will be searching for Manange.
Earlier in January, the Supreme Court (SC) had convicted Rajib Gurung aka Deepak Manange in an attempted murder case and sentenced him to five years in prison.
Manange, who was elected as an independent candidate to a provincial assembly seat from Manang district, has had several run-ins with the law on numerous criminal charges in the past. Provincial assembly member-elect Gurung has not taken his oath as lawmaker.
He has been on the run since the SC upheld the Patan Appellate Court’s verdict to jail him for five years in an attempted murder case
Responding to a 13-year-old case of gang war between Manange and his rival Milan Gurung aka Chakre, the Patan Appellate Court in 2012 had ruled the incident as an attempted murder case and ordered five years jail sentence to Manange.
