The aircraft carrying 71 people including four members of the crew was en route to Kathmandu from Dhaka, Bangladesh when it crashed while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
The SARRC Secretary General on behalf of the SAARC Secretariat and on his own conveyed sincere condolences to the people and governments of Bangladesh and Nepal for the tragic loss of lives.
In his separate letters addressed to the Foreign Secretaries of Bangladesh and Nepal, the Secretary General further said, “Our sympathies are with the families of those victims who passed away in the sad incident.”
Bangladesh envoy calls on Bhandari
Kathmandu: Bangladeshi Ambassador to Nepal Mashfee Binte Shams called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the Office of the President in Sheetal Niwas on Tuesday.
On the occasion, President Bhandari expressed sorrow over the deaths of Bangladeshi citizens in the crash involving a US-Bangla airlines plane at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Monday.
The President extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. She also conveyed, through the Ambassador, heartfelt condolences to her Bangaldeshi counterpart, according to the Office of the President. (RSS)
