CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara has been elected the Speaker of House of Representatives unopposed as he was the only candidate to file nomination for the post.
The official announcement of the election will be made tomorrow.
Earlier today, Mahara had reached the Federal Parliament building at around 11:20 am to file his candidacy which was proposed by CPN-UML leader Subas Chandra Nembang and seconded by CPN (MC) leader Dev Gurung.
Meanwhile, the main opposition Nepali Congress had decided not to field any candidate for the post.
