Indian man held with Rs 4.5 million from Biratnagar

According to Inspector Santosh Niraula of Area Police Office, Rani, Narayan Sah, 45, of Pharbisgunj, Aarriya district, India was arrested with the cash during a security check while he was heading towards Biratnagar from Jogbani of India in a car (BR 11 AA 6265). Police found the cash hidden inside the car’s seat.
The seized notes are in denominations of Rs 1000, Rs 500 and Rs 100, said Niraula. The confiscated cash, car and Sah have been handed over to the District Police Office, Morang, for investigation.
DSP Arun Kumar BC, Chief at the District Police Office, Morang, said that an investigation has been launched to find how the cash was brought to Nepal from India.
Police suspected that the cash collected from the Nepali customers in the Indian market could have been brought by hundi operators.
According to a police source, Indian businessmen have been found bringing the cash into Nepal collected from the bordering Indian bazaar.
