Political parties represented in the federal parliament have agreed to hold the vote to elect the President on March 5.
CPN-UML leader Rajendra Pandey said the agreement was reached at a meeting organised by the Election Commission.
According to the EC, discussion was held with party representatives for scheduling the President and Vice President elections.
EC Spokesperson Nabaraj Dhakal said the dates would be announced in consultation with other stakeholders.
An electoral college of members of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies elects the President.
The vote of an HoR member weighs 79, which is 48 for a provincial assembly member.
