CPN-UML lawmaker Pradeep Bhandari has been elected unopposed as the Speaker of Province 1.
A meeting of the Province Assembly held on Monday elected Bhandari unopposed.
Lawmaker Tulasi Prasad Neupaune proposed Bhandari’s candidacy which was seconded by lawmaker Laxman Tiwari during the meeting which was held 15 minutes late than the scheduled time.
Bhandari was the only candidate to file his nomination for the post of Speaker.
Senior-most lawmaker Om Sarabai, who chaired the meeting, announced Bhandari as Speaker of the Province.
Meanwhile, the meeting has been postponed for 4 pm today.
