Prime Minister opens 300-bed hospital in Jumla

Speaking at the event, Deuba said the hospital will benefit the entire Karnali region. The Prime Minister who is also the Chancellor of the academy assured residents the academy would soon run MBBS classes.
“I have already talked to Health Minister to run classes in the academy. Students of Karnali region will soon get the opportunity to study medicine in their own place,” he said.
“Karnali Academy of Health Sciences will be the backbone of health and education in this remote region. The academy will be given due importance unlike other health institutions,” the Prime Minister added.
He also pledged to take the initiative to provide budget demanded by the board during the meeting of the academy.
Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Rajendra Raj Wagle expressed his happiness with the
construction of the 300-bed hospital. He said the hardship of Karnali locals of visiting major hospitals in search of treatment comes to an end with the resumption of services at the academy.
Health Minister Dipak Bohara also attended the event. He pledged that the health ministry would support the academy in its educational programmes.
The hospital has been under construction for the last two and a half year at a total cost of Rs 760 million.
