Speaking at a press conference organised in the premises of the hospital on Saturday afternoon, Dr KC, who has staged a series of hunger strike demanding reforms in the country’s medical sector, warned that he would stage another round of hunger strike if CJ Parajuli did not resign from his post.
Saying that CJ Parajuli had acquired citizenship certificates from two different places, Dr KC demanded resignation of CJ Parajuli to help in the investigation of the authenticity of his citizenship document.
Though the Supreme Court (SC) had already ordered to investigate the authenticity of citizenship document and education certificates of CJ Parajuli, he is trying to create obstacle to investigation by staying in the post, Dr KC said.
He said that the appointment of CJ Parajuli should be scrapped and should be booked for investigation.
Dr KC also demanded a fair investigation into death threat issued by CJ Parajuli to senior advocate Surendra Bhandari.
Earlier on January 31, Bhandari, who defended Dr KC in a contempt of court case against him, stated that CJ Parajuli issued threat to him first on January 10 after the conclusion of hearing on the contempt of court case. He claimed Parajuli again threatened him last Thursday following a write-up by Bhandari in a national newspaper about Parajuli.
He warned that he would stage another round of hunger strike anytime soon if his demands were not addressed.
Earlier on January 31, Dr Govinda KC among others, had filed an application under Right to Information Act at the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, seeking information about CJ Parajuli’s citizenship.
CJ Parajuli has been charged of using forged academic documents, maintaining two citizenship certificates from two places and reducing his age to hold the top Judiciary post, among others.
