An inmate who escaped from Dillibazaar Prison on January 18 was injured during an encounter with police in Chitwan on Saturday.
Police said Tika Bahadur Thapa, aka Tike, was injured in front of a fuel station at Ramnagar in Bharatpur Metropolitan City. Thapa was stopped for a check-up after refueling by police when he fired towards them. He was injured when police fired back.
Thapa was shot at his thigh and hand. He was on his way to Narayanghat on a motorcycle (Na 47 Pa 5052) when the firing unfolded. Chitwan SP Dipak Thapa informed Thapa has been admitted to Bharatpur Hospital for treatment.
Thapa was doing his time for burglary.
