Prohibitory order lifted in Dhankuta till Tuesday

A meeting of the District Security Committee held on Monday decided to defer the prohibitory order to ease the life of general public, Chief District Officer (CDO) Prem Prakash Upreti informed. The administration has been imposing the prohibitory order since Thursday after the situation became tense due to the protest by locals demanding provincial capital status for Dhankuta.
Similarly, the Agitation Mobilisation Committee which has been enforcing general strike in the district has also called a meeting. The meeting is expected to change the form of the agitation, sources said.
The decision, however, would be made public only after the meeting, Agitation Mobilisation Committee coordinator Sundar Babu Shrestha informed.
The agitation was sparked by the government decision to designate Biratnagar as the temporary provincial headquarters.
