A meeting held at the party office in Dhumbarahi under the chairmanship of party Vice-Chairman Bam Dev Gautam urged the government to hold the National Assembly election on the scheduled date. The NA election has been scheduled for February 7.
“Our attention has been drawn towards the delay in appointing provincial chiefs and fixing provincial capitals,” said party’s Publicity Department Chief Yogesh Bhattarai, adding, “The government is trying to disrupt the National Assembly election and push the country towards uncertainty.”
Earlier, the Election Commission (EC) had warned that the NA election would be hampered if provincial chiefs were not appointed and provincial capitals not fixed at the earliest.
Moreover, leader Bhattarai said that the government has not consulted with his party regarding the appointment of provincial chiefs and fixing provincial capitals.
“It is the government’s responsibility to appoint provincial chiefs and fix provincial capitals,” secretary Bhattarai said.
Accusing the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government, which became caretaker government after the defeat in the recently concluded parliamentary and provincial elections, of carrying out financial irregularities and making appointments, he urged the government not to do so.
