The cold wave death toll in Saptari district has reached to 19 with a death of one more person at Saptakoshi Municipality on Tuesday night.

According to Saptari DSP Dhruba Kumar Shrestha, 62-year-old Arjun Pokharel of Saptakoshi Municipality-1 succumbed to hypothermia while he was sleeping.

The body of the deceased has been taken to Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital for post mortem.

Meanwhile, in Krishnashrawan Rural Municipality-2, a 35-year-old woman, Sanju Meheta, suffered burn injuries while warming herself in a bonfire.

Police informed that Meheta’s sari caught fire and received burn injuries at her back and leg. She was immediately taken to Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital for medical treatment but later was referred to Dharan-based BPKIHS for further medical attention.
