Police on Saturday had arrested Chhitij Shrestha, a resident doctor at the hospital, along with his two other friends Dinesh Shrestha, 25, of Dharan-10, and Ujjwal Haluwai, 25, of Dharan-5, from room no 114 of the BPKIHS hostel.
Police on Sunday nabbed Samir Magar and Lalit BK from Saraswati Orphanage based in Dharan-3. According to DSP at Area Police Office, Rameshwor Poudel, the duo was held with 32 gram heroine a day after the three were arrested.
“Preliminary investigation has shown that Dr Shrestha is a drug user and Haluwai a peddler,” said DSP Poudel.
Call detail records of the five arrestees are being probed. Police have been conducting thorough investigation suspecting that other doctors and students studying at the medical college could be involved in drug abuse. DSP Poudel added that the number of heroine abuser in Dharan could be way beyond imagination.
