Former Prime Minister and CPN-UML senior leader Jhalanath Khanal has been elected in Ilam-1. He defeated his closest rival Bhupendra Kattel of Nepali Congress (NC) by a margin of 17,170 votes.
Khanal, elected for the fifth time from the constituency, garnered 36,807 votes against Kattel's 19,637 votes.
Likewise, CPN-UML's Kajiman Kagate has been elected with 17,896 votes in Ilam Province 'A'. NC's Durga Baral secured 10,031 votes.
Meanwhile, in Ilam constituency-2 , UML leader Subas Nembang is leading the federal parliament race and the left alliance is leading in Provincial Assembly race as well.
