Police have arrested one district level leader of Rastriya Prajatantrik Party Prajatantrik in Dhankuta district for doling out cash to voters.
Raj Kumar Rai, ward committee chairman of the party in Dhankuta-2, was arrested with Rs 169,500 cash kept in two bags. Cadres of left alliance took Rai under control and submitted him to police, district police chief Sudip Rajbhandari said.
Police said initial investigation had proved Rai had distributed cash to voters during the silence period. Chief Election Officer Binod Kumar Pokharel said further investigation into the matter will be conducted.
