Bandarmude victims, CPN (MC) sign 3-point agreement

At least 38 people were killed, and 75 others injured when the then Maoist rebels ambushed an overcrowded bus at Bandarmude in Madi of Chitwan district on June 6, 2005.
CPN (MC) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is contesting in the December 7 elections from Chitwan constituency 3, signed the pact with a section of the victims.
As per the demands put forth as the first phase of the three-point pact, initiatives will be taken to provide employment to the family members who depended on the victims, school-level education for children of the deceased, bear medical expenses of the injured, build a memorial park in 10 bigha area in remembrance of the victims, museum and a zoo and make the area a tourist attraction.
Meanwhile, an agreement has also been reached to form a committee that will estimate the education expense of the victims’ children and medical expenses of the injured till date. The committee will comprise of three members from the victim’s side, three from CPN (MC) and one representative from Madi Municipality.
Earlier on November 26, CPN (MC) Chairman Dahal had admitted that the Bandarmude incident was a grave mistake.
