An improvised explosive device (IED) went off targeting CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Kapilvastu on Saturday.

Dahal had completed his address to the programme organised by left alliance in Pakadi in Mayadevi rural municipality when the explosion occured. No damage was caused by the explosion.

Security personnel cordoned off the area and began an investigation into the explosion.
