IED found at Nuwakot election office safely detonated

Panic gripped Bidur municipality of Nuwakot district after an improvised explosive device (IED) was found on the premises of District Election Office on Thursday. Locals and election officials became terrified after the Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal Police personnel and locals saw an IED below a government motorbike parked at the office at around 9 this morning.
A joint team of Nepal Army, APF and Nepal Police reached the spot and cautiously picked the explosive device. Shortly after, a bomb disposal squad of Shreenath Battalion safetly detonated the bomb at a nearby open field.
Police said they have been searching for those involved in planting the bomb.
Vehicular movement was obstructed for about two hours in the district headquarters following the spotting of the bomb. The bomb was planted 200 meters away from the government offices.
Election officials including the officers, heading for various villages with election materials, looked terrified after the explosive was found at the district headquarters.
