Seven persons were injured, two of them critical, when a bomb exploded near leftist alliance assembly at Chandrapur Municipality in Rautahat district on Saturday.
Police said the bomb went off near Radha Krishna Temple.
Two of the injured, Sarita Rai, 31, and her son Jaibik Rai, 7, of Chidiya in the municipality are in critical condition, police said. They have been send to Chitwan Medical College for further treatment.
Area Police Station DSP Shanti Raj Koirala said they have begun investigating the incident.
