An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off near an election assembly of left alliance in Baglung on Thursday. However, no human casualty has been reported from the explosion.
Police said the IED blew up at a garbage dumping area, 10 meters away from the programme venue, and close to the Galkot Multiple Campus in Galkot Municipality-3.
Security has been beefed up in and around the area following the explosion. SP Chandra Kuber Khapung said the IED that blasted at around 1 pm today was a normal explosive device.
CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Rastriya Janamorcha Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC of the left bloc were scheduled to address the programme.
