A building named Nepal Bhawan is to be built in Kolkata, the capital of the Indian State of West Bengal, at the initiative of the Nepali Welfare Trust established by the India-Nepal People’s Friendly Cultural Forum of Kolkata.
According to General-Secretary of the forum Raju Pathak, the building would help in facilitating relief and rescue operation among the Nepalis in Kolkata at the time of disaster, ill-fated accidents or difficulties.
“Kolkata lacks such space where the Nepalis could take refuge at the time of difficulties,” said Pathak.
Trust’s Coordinator Khimraj Baral said that they would also seek support from the governments of Nepal and India for the building construction.
Nepali Consul General in Kolkata, Yek Narayan Aryal said he would make efforts to secure support from the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi for the building.
