A child died after a commuter bus hit a motorbike at Bhotepul of Dharan-8 on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as 11-year-old pillion rider Rupak Thapa.
Police said that the bus (Ko 1 Kha 3188) heading towards Kakadbhitta from Dharan hit the bike (Me 8 Pa 7425) this morning.
Bike rider Nabin Thapa, 27, sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Critically injured in the incident, Rupak was rushed to the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Nabin is receiving treatment at the same health facility.
Police said that they have taken bus driver Ramji Prasad Bhandari, 49, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-2 under control for investigation.
