A man died of altitude sickness in the Mera Base Camp at Mahakulung Rural Municipality of Solukhumbu district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Kawar Kumar Rai, 43, of Gudel in Mahakulung-4 in the district.
It has been learnt that Rai had left for Mera Base camp five days ago.
He then complained of headache, fatigue and dizziness. Rai died at Thammak in the district while being rushed to his home for treatment, police said.
Altitude sickness could strike in lack of adequate acclimatisation as it is a reaction to the lower amounts of oxygen available at high altitudes due to decreased atmospheric pressure. RSS
