Nepal holds strategic importance: Oman

PM Deuba, who is currently on a four-day official visit of the sultanate, held a meeting with Omani DPM al-Said at the Royal Palace in the Omani capital Muscat on Tuesday.DPM al-Said represented Oman’s Sultan Qaboos bin Said al-Said in the meeting due to Sultan’s ailing health.Al-Said said Oman would open its embassy in Nepal to further bilateral ties between the two countries.
“Nepali migrant workers in Oman have made a good impression,” Nepali Ambassador to Oman Sharmila Parajuli Dhakal quoted the Omani DPM as saying. “Oman will open a consulate in Nepal as it carries a significant strategic importance.”
PM Deuba stressed on Oman’s assistance for the development of health, tourism, hydropower and agriculture sectors in Nepal. “We are on the verge of ending the transitional phase in Nepal,” said PM Deuba. “Nepal will soon become a perfect destination for foreign investors. And we hope Oman will invest in Nepal.”
