A landslide at Bhangari area in Resunga-13, Gulmi, has stranded hundreds of people travelling along the Ridi-Tamghas road.
The landslide that broke out on Monday morning was still active until late afternoon, owing to which debris clearance works could not be initiated, Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Dhungana said.
Scores of public transports were caught in a gridlock due to the landslide. With no sign of the landslide stopping anytime soon, many passengers got off their vehicles and walked back to Tamghas, the district headquarters, to spend the night. Several people were travelling home for the Dashain festival.
The vehicles were stranded at Bhangeri and Urline, with the landslide obstructing their progress.
According to Division Road Office in Palpa, it was highly unlikely for the traffic to resume by Tuesday. The Ridi-Tamghas road is the only motorway that connects the rural areas of Gulmi with its district headquarters.
