Jangilal Raya, general secretary and lawmaker of Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal (RJP-N), has resigned from the party, expressing dissatisfaction over the selection of candidates for the upcoming local level elections in Province 2.Jangilal Raya, general secretary and lawmaker of Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal (RJP-N), has resigned from the party, expressing dissatisfaction over the selection of candidates for the upcoming local level elections in Province 2.
Raya accuses the RJP-N leadership of selecting the candidates in a unilateral manner and said he no longer wished to be associated with the party in any way.
The RJP-N Coordinator, Mahantha Thakur, according to Raya, did not intervene when the leaders like Mahendra Raya Yadav and Rajendra Mahato offered election tickets to their loyalists.
A party source, however, said that Raya decided to quit because the party leadership did not nominate one of his aides to vie in the September 18 elections from Kabilashi Municipality in Sarlahi district.
Raya has said he will either join the Nepali Congress or the CPN (Maoist Centre).
