Thapa moves SC against legality of Rana’s party
Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Kamal Thapa on Sunday filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court, demanding that the Election Commission’s decision to register RPP (Prajatantrik) be scrapped.Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Kamal Thapa on Sunday filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court, demanding that the Election Commission’s decision to register RPP (Prajatantrik) be scrapped.
SC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Panthee said that Thapa filed the writ claiming that signatures had been forged for a different purpose.
As all nine central members, whose signatures were used for registering the RPP (Prajatantrik), had informed the EC that they were with Thapa, the RPP chair has demanded that the EC decision to register the RPP (Prajatantrik) under Pashupati Shumsher Rana should be scrapped. Thapa has claimed that EC’s decision was illegal and has violated the SC’s ruling.
RPP Spokesperson Mohan Shrestha said the SC had ordered the EC to continue with the registering process by verifying the signatures of 56 central members, but the poll body decided to register the party.
The EC had registered the party last Wednesday. Thapa maintains that nine central members and two lawmakers of RPP (Prajatantrik) are with his party.
