Donations started pouring in for the family of an eight-year-old Kamalu Sada, who was taken ill due to the flood and died for want of treatment in Koiladi, Saptari on Monday.
The photographs of Dev Kumar Sada leaving the dead body of Kamalu into Koshi River at Kulari Village in lack of dry land to bury the body was widely covered in the media and became viral in social media.
A total of Rs 93,000 has been collected for the family after the news was published in Kantipur Daily.
Phudan Sada, the father of the deceased, returned to his village from Dharan on foot to perform his son’s final rites. He said he had no money for bus fares.
Kamalu was taken to the Kunauli Bazaar in India for treatment. The grieving mother Bimalidevi said, “We got soaked in rain when I was taking Kamalu to the Kunauli Bazaar.” “Kamalu breathed his last on my lap,” she added.
Though, Kamalu died in the floods triggered by torrential downpour, the government is yet to reach to the victim family.
