Vehicular movement along the Mahendra Highway has been obstructed due to landslides at multiple places.

The road caved in at Daunne of Nawalparasi, making the travel life threatening. It has been learnt that police have stopped the vehicles from crossing the damaged section.

Thousands of passengers traveling through the East-West highway have been left in lurch after dozens of landslides hit the road on Friday night. Before the authorities removed the landslide debris from the road, different sections of the highway slumped. 

Police informed that the highway in Daunne section has fallen down up to 25 metres.

 Although excavators are mobilised to remove the debris, the landmass is continuously falling on the road due to continuous rain, DSP Rajesh Thapa said.
