A man from Kohalpur Municipality in Banke district murdered his wife before turning himself to police with her decapitated head on Monday night.

Officers at the Kohalpur Area Police Office were shocked when 29-year-old Mohammad Aftab Bedawa reached the office at around 10:30pm bearing the head of his 26-year-old wife, Khulsan. 

After Bedawa confessed to his crime, a team, led by DSP Suresh Prasad Kafle, had reached the couple’s home and discovered the headless body of Khulsan. “The couple’s four-month-old baby was also in the house. Crying but unharmed. The mother was brutally murdered.

There were three stab wounds in her chest,” DSP Kafle said.

The couple had married 13 years ago and have six children. Bedawa also has a second wife whom he had married four years ago.

People who knew the couple said they used to fight often over trivial matters.
