The two-day long meeting of the party’s office-bearers, which concluded on Sunday, decided that the constitution should be amended in such a way that addresses the issues of Madhesis, Dalits, Tharus, Muslims, women and other marginalised communities, as per the 26-point proposal of Sanghiya Gathabandhan and the Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha that was submitted to the government earlier.
The meeting concluded that the registered amendment proposal was only intended to ensure local level polls and that it was incomplete, ambiguous and incapable of resolving the national issues.
“There is no alternative to constitution amendment in order to resolve the existing national issues,” states a press statement issued by the party.
Senior leader and leader of the parliamentary party Ashok Rai said the party also decided to direct the lower committees to send the assessment report of the local
level polls.
