Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have demanded recounting at Kamal Rural Municipality in Jhapa after their candidates received equal number of votes in the second phase of local elections.
NC candidate Hukumar Singh Rai and UML's Menuka Kafle received equal 8,275 votes in the election. Election officer office said it would take further decision after consultation with the Election Commission.
UML's Benu Siwakoti was elected as vice chairman in the rural municipality. He defeated NC's Dipa Gautam for the post.
