CPN (Maoist Centre) candidate Resham Thapa has been elected mayor of Bhumikasthana Municipality in Arghakhanchi district on Sunday.
He defeated Kabiram Khanal of Rastriya Janamorcha to become mayor of the municipality.
Thapa secured 5,320 votes while his closest rival Khanal garnered 4,552 votes.
Similarly, Khadananda Belbase has been elected deputy mayor of the municipality.
He defeated Sunita Balbase of CPN-UML.
Khadananda mustered 5,230 votes while Sunita obtained 4,701 votes.
