As the vote counting has begun in Jhapa district, CPN-UML has taken lead in eight local units of the eastern district.
According to the early trend, UML is leading in six municipalities—Damak, Gauradaha, Shivsathakshi, Kankai, Bhadrapur and Birtamo-and two village councils—Kamal and Haldibari.
Nepali Congress is leading in three village councils—Kachankawal, Baahradashi, and Jhapa, while the Maoist Centre is leading in Gaurigunj Village Council.
