A bomb went off near a polling centre at Singhabahini Secondary School in Laliguras Municipality-5 of Tehrathum district on Tuesday.
A group of unidentified persons had planted two bombs in the area.
A joint bomb disposal squad of Nepal Army and Armed Police Force later defused the other explosive device, APF Inspector Nabin Khulal said.
No one has claimed the responsibility for the planting of explosives.
According to the District Police Office, Tehrathum, security has been tightened in and around the polling centres in the district.
Police said that they are searching for culprits.
