7 held for anti-election activities

Police have arrested seven cadres of the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) on charge of carrying out anti-election activities from different parts of Bhojpur and Panchthar districts in the last two weeks. Jeevan Rai and Man Bahadur Rai, who were arrested from Bhojpur’s Yangpang two weeks ago, are being held in custody of the District Police Office. Similarly, the party’s district in-charge, Laxmi Tamang Gyanu, was arrested from Khawa Village Council on Saturday, police said.
In Panchthar district, police have detained four CPN cadres. They have been charged under the Public Offence Act.
