The election will be held in 35 districts across province no 1, 5 and 7. However, the election date for province no 2 has been deferred while the first phase of election was conducted in 34 districts across province no 3, 4, 6 on May 14.
EC Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma said that the candidates and the representatives of various political parties filed their respective nominations from 8am to 4pm on Sunday in a systemic way.
Spokesperson Sharma commented that the massive participation of the candidates for the nomination filing has proved that the political parties and their candidates alike were eager and enthusiastic about the upcoming poll.
The nomination filing was carried out for electing people's representatives for one metropolitan city, seven sub-metropolitan cities, 111 municipalities and 215 rural municipalities.
There are altogether 6,432,765 registered voters who will be casting their ballot to elect 15,038 people's representatives for 334 local units, according to the Commission. RSS
